These percentages for the San Jose Metropolitan area are taken from the 2010 Civic Health Data Assessment provided by the US Census Bureau:

If you request a ride to the polls on Election Day, would you like your driver to speak your native language?   Your vote counts, even if you don't speak perfect English, so do register and please vote.

According to the U.S. Census' American Community Survey,  11.7% of all Santa Clara County residents do not have an English speaker in their household who is over 14 yrs old.  Take heart, ballots are available in many languages!

Just to look at this a little more,


In District 14 (on the Peninsula), 31.4% of the total population are foreign born.  Of these, almost 43% are citizens,which means that 13.5% of the total population are naturalized citizens ready to vote.  What help do they need to get to the polls?

In District 17 (Cupertino to Fremont), 26.9% of the population are foreign born of which 29.3% are also citizens.  Here, 7.8% of the total population are naturalized citizens ready to vote.


In District 18 (West of San Jose looking from Redwood City to Santa Cruz), 25.6% of the population are foreign born of which 33.5% are also citizens.  Here, 8.6% of the total are naturalized citizens eligible to vote.

In District 19 (Central San Jose to Gilroy), 16.6% of the population are foreign born of which 41% are also citizens.  Here, 6.8% are naturalized citizens eligible to vote.
